Sigma Pharmaceuticals Limited is a company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange that produces over-the-counter drugs and prescription medicine.
As of the end of February 2010, Sigma shares have been in a trading halt on the Australian Stock Exchange - initially due to a profit warning. Since then, allegations of accounting irregularities[1] and preferential deals negotiated with certain pharmacy chains (at the expense of smaller independent chemists) that left Sigma losing money at the expense of their own Amcal and Guardian Pharmacies banners[2] and forsaking cashflow have emerged[3].
As of 26 March 2010, Sigma shares remain on a trading halt on the ASX pending the release of 2009 financial year results. As of 7 May 2010, Sigma shares are no longer in trading halt but continue to perform poorly regardless of general market conditions.
